When a tree is removed to ground level, a small amount of the stem or trunk is still visible, requiring Tree Stump Grinding. It can be grounded out for a number of reasons, aesthetically unattractive, a hazardous object or can attract fungus and other wood rotting organisms which may affect surrounding plants and trees. Certain species of trees can also regenerate from the stump.
A stump grinder is a machine that consists of a large diameter cutting wheel that is placed onto the stump and lowered progressively until the stump is ground out. Roots can also be removed if necessary.
Tree Trouble Limited has a narrow-access stump grinder which can fit through standard gates and doorways, needing a minimum of 45 centimetres. A second machine is also available to allow access into even smaller areas.
