Seasoned hardwood logs burn hotter, cleaner and longer than most other woods, as hardwood is very dense, with close packed fibres. Hardwoods are also less resinous than softwoods and are therefore less likely to result in a build-up of tar deposits in your flue, reducing its efficiency or increasing the risk of a flue fire.
We have been providing quality logs for the last 5 years. Our logs are cut at an average of 6 to 9 inches long, which is standard size within the UK. Although if you want bigger / smaller logs, please contact us first and we can help you.
Our logs are ready to burn and have a moisture content below 20% to give you more heat, using less fuel, with lower emissions. All our logs are sourced within a 50-mile radius, with our main source from North Wales.
Our main source of hardwood is Ash Fraxinus Excelsior, Ash Dieback disease has had a devastating impact on Ash trees in the United Kingdom and Ireland which has enabled us to source high amounts.
Ash is up there with the best of woods for your fire or wood burner as it’s one of the densest of the hardwood logs. The efficiency ratio of heat output to the amount of fuel needed makes ash a reliable heat source. It gives a strong and bright flame and is one of the easy hardwoods to light due to its tighter grain yet thin layer of bark, perfect for beginners. Ash doesn’t have a particularly strong or distinctive aroma. Ash even burns even when green (undried) as it has a naturally low moisture content. It burns clean with no smoke and it throws very few sparks.
To sum up Ash has the balanced benefits of burning for longer at a steady rate while still being fairly easy to use. The is no other hardwood better value for money than Ash.
